The Importance of Technology in Our Lives Today

Technology, when it is discovered, is always a great idea in the beginning. However, as time goes on, some people begin to question just how good technology is for the human race. There are a lot of different things that could be described as technology, and abolishing all technology, as some people desire, would be a disaster to humans. Technology in and of itself is not evil or good, but the way that it is used determines whether or not it is beneficial to humanity.

When some people bash the importance of technology, they don’t consider that technology is just a tool. It is not a living and breathing entity that is going to swallow mankind whole, but rather items that can be used to help and benefit humans on a global scale. Let’s look at some technology that people take for granted every day.

How significant is the importance of technology?

First of all, the light bulb. Do you really want to abolish light for people in dark places? Maybe lights are not as useful to some people in the world as they are for others, depending where you live, but life without light bulbs would certainly be considered less enjoyable than life with them. For example, how would doctors perform necessary surgeries without the light that light bulbs give off? Many more people would die needless and painful deaths all because we chose not to use the light bulb. As well, light bulbs are great ways to be productive at night time when we have nothing else to do. Light bulbs are most definitely a great example of the importance of technology.

Technology Is Not Bad: It Depends How You Use It!

Another great example of technology that helps people daily is the TV or television. I agree that there are many different reasons not to have a TV. However, it is not the TV that is bad, but the way that people use TVs that could be considered bad. TV’s, depending on the material that you watch, can be very educational, fascinating, and at the same time thrilling! Although I feel that people use TV’s in a way that is detrimental to our health, such as sitting for hours on end and watching material that is neither educational nor healthy, it is not the fault of the TV. TVs are often used in schools to help a class full of students understand a new concept that they are learning, and not only do they make this learning easier for the students and the teacher, but they also make it much more entertaining, giving the students even more reason to pay attention!

In conlcusion, when people argue against the importance of technology in the world today, they really don’t know what they are talking about! Technology is not inherently good or bad, but it is just a tool to be used in whatever ways people decide to use them. Light bulbs and TVs are both great examples of how technology has completely changed the way that people live, and without both of these technologies, our lives would most certainly be worse than they are today, highlighting the importance of technology.

Technology has its downside too, yeah, but we can’t really undermine its importance. I have to add that with modern technology, our life expectancy rate has become higher. We now have medicines and vaccines that made a significant breakthrough in the health industry. And they just keep on improving and discovering new things!
